Sarah Tunall started volunteering at Home Sweet Home in December of 2014. Originally it was part of her job to help with the Client Christmas Party. Later her passion became to walk with people who are on a different path of life than hers. In response to God for what He has done for us, she believes we are called to serve others.
Devotions have helped Sarah more than she expected. The majority of conversations are around what God has been doing in her life. Words that residents share have been healing to her. Sarah has had some rough patches in her life lately and the residents have encouraged her.
Facilitating Devotions with the residents brings hope and reconciliation to relationships. Sarah stated that relationships are developed with residents and single moms. She sees some residents around town and this helps create a normalcy in the relationship.
Regarding volunteering, Sarah says “Do it!” Volunteering can help others realize that the residents are the same as anyone. Barriers are broken down and transformation takes place to see all as God see us.
