Luke 3:11 – John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
This verse could have been written for HSHM! As I strolled through Mission Mart’s parking lot sale on July 7 I was struck by the powerful service that we offer, to allow people to share items they no longer use with others who can benefit from them. This happens every day at our Mission Mart, dining room, Bread For Life Food Co-op, and front desk. I am filled with gratitude for all those who share and for our staff and volunteers who assist in the process of sharing.

Hebrews 13:1 – Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
About 200 “brothers and sisters” gathered on July 1 at Miller Park in Bloomington to celebrate our kinship and connection through the work that God has been doing at HSHM over the past 100 years. It was marvelous to be surrounded by this huge family. The labels of employee, volunteer, board member, and donor were unimportant as we celebrated our common bond.
Last week we had the opportunity to welcome some international students from ISU into our HSHM family as we shared the HSHM story and provided them with a tour.
On July 4 we celebrate the common bond that we have as Americans. Connect Transit employees reached out to their brothers and sisters who are residents at HSHM and provided a wonderful picnic lunch.
