Karen Kuntz

Karen Kuntz started at Home Sweet Home’s soup kitchen on June 7, 2013 and has volunteered over 350 hours.  Karen was a stay at home mom for several years but was always involved in her children’s schools and church.  As the youngest entered high school, Karen realized she wasn’t needed as much so she started praying about what to do.  In her church bulletin she read that Home Sweet Home was seeking volunteers.  She initially volunteered every other week but got hooked and loved it so much that she switched to a weekly serving time.

Karen believes her service helps those in need to receive a meal, but also it is about building relationships with those she works alongside.  This experience has enriched her life.  Karen considers staff and other volunteers her friends.  It is a bright spot in her week.  She values the relationships with the people at HSHM.

For others considering volunteering, Karen says “Do it.  Don’t hesitate”.
